Dear CHS Patriots:

I almost can’t get my mind around the fact that the school year is coming to an end. It’s coming quickly, because honestly, this might be the busiest season of all.

I want to encourage each one of you to take the time to see all that’s happening around you. Don’t miss the people, the activity, and the joy God’s blessed us with here at CHS. Let’s end ’26 well.

Save Money by Re-enrolling before April is gone!

Are you ready to enroll for the 2026-27 school year? For all “re-enrollment” and “new enrollment,” there is a $50 discount on the enrollment fee! Take advantage of this before the end of the month.

Info should be hitting your inbox very soon. Of course you can always contact the office anytime for more information.

Celebrating the Teacher and Students of the Month

Sophie Kirby, Ella Rabon, Audrey Layman, and Mrs. Anna Chapman were celebrated at chapel for demonstrating the character trait of attentiveness. Thank you all for your leadership as you follow Jesus!

Praying Parents:

You are invited as a parent or guardian to come and pray together for CHS, the teachers and staff, and of course our families. The prayer event is part of the CHS Parent Association and held at 8:30am in the Elementary School Library.

Wandering in Washington

The Juniors and Seniors are heading to D.C. April 8-14. Would you put us on your prayer list? We have an action-packed week roaming the nation’s capital, and want everyone to be healthy and safe.

What’s Happening @ CHS?

Verse of the Month

Did you know this verse is part of the vision for CHS?

“Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it and find rest for your souls.” (Jeremiah 6:16)

Science Fair, Blood Drive, CPR … oh my!

Big shout-out to Ms. Zileri for making this year’s Science Fair a real treat for everyone. To all the staff, teachers, and students, who participated in any way, we want to say thank you and great job!

A Property Prayer Answered

If you missed it, a few weeks ago we had an all school meeting.

John Weaver walked us through the history of CHS, including last year’s uncertain season when we became independent and found ourselves needing a lease for the property, which still belongs to YWAM Tyler. We were given the option to purchase the entire Dayspring/CHS property for $2.5 million, a number far beyond our reach.

But God.

About a month ago, dear friends of CHS approached us with a stunning offer: they wanted to help us buy the property—and give the full $2.5 million. This is nothing short of the Lord’s miraculous provision.

We will also be planning a time soon to celebrate all God has done together.

And that’s not all …

  • A group of Korean believers with a heart for education partnered with us, gave a generous donation, and invited us to share about the Principle Approach® in Korea this summer.
  • Multiple families and ministries provided donations that covered our full lease, kitchen renovations, and generous teacher gifts.
  • We asked for one golf cart to help David… God gave us two within 24 hours.

Education Spotlight: The Principle Approach®

The Principle Approach® methodology employed at Christian Heritage School (CHS) places God’s Word at the foundation of all learning. In every subject, students are taught to see God as intimately and actively involved in the lives of individuals, in the history of nations, and in every aspect of life and learning. The Principle Approach® is rooted in seven foundational principles that guide our instruction and shape our school culture.

Principle Seven: The Christian Principle of American Political Union

The principle of political union teaches that a nation is strongest when its people are united by shared convictions and enduring principles. The American Union was uniquely formed through the voluntary consent of its citizens to foundational biblical truths, including the belief that all men are created equal and that government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed. In this framework, individuals willingly grant authority to the government for specific and limited purposes.

The Dual Aspects of Union:

Internal Unity (Cause): The unseen, vertical relationship between God and the individual, expressed through shared faith and common principles.

External Union (Effect): The visible, horizontal relationship among people, expressed through voluntary associations and communities. This voluntary union is expressed across three areas of society: political (towns, states, nations), commercial (businesses, partnerships, corporations), and independent (homes, churches, schools).

Historically, this principle is illustrated by the Pilgrims, who formed a covenanted Christian community for both civil and spiritual purposes. They also established a peace treaty with the Wampanoag Indians, one that endured throughout the signers’ lifetimes, for the purpose of mutual defense and equal justice.

Today, similar expressions of voluntary union can be seen in neighborhood watch groups and volunteer fire departments, where individuals unite for the common good. Whenever believers unite with others, they must exercise discernment, recognizing when to join and when to remain separate in order to preserve a clear Christian conscience.

In the classroom, students learn both to act independently through voluntary consent to classroom constitutions and to work together with others. CHS teachers seek to cultivate students’ growth in the character qualities of love, patience, and self-government that support unity, order, mutual respect, and harmony in the classroom.

“Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ…” (Ephesians 4:13).

Sending a Team to Korea!

Sometimes relationships come in the most unexpected ways. We are very grateful for the connection we have with the Dreamy School in Korea. This trip is an opportunity for us to invest the Principle Approach® method of education abroad.

Would you pray for this team as they travel to Korea and Cambodia to explore how to equip teachers and leaders in other nations.

Team: Rachel Wigent, Nina and Terri Howlett, Connie Todd, Richard Melina, Estefania and Kenneth Lord Jr.

Prayer Notes:

🙏Pray for student enrollment. CHS has open enrollment throughout the year, but right now we want to get the word out for registering for classes Fall of ’26!

🙏Pray for guidance. In the midst of some very specific prayers answered, we are not done. We need the Holy Spirit to shine light on our path as we navigate this next school year.

🙏Pray for TFN. July 13th will be here before we know it. Pray for the recruitment efforts to train new teachers.

From the Desk of Principal Wigent

Dearest CHS Patriots,

A couple of Fridays ago, many of us gathered in Patriot’s Hall to worship the Lord and seek His direction for our school. As we listened, the Lord impressed on my heart the importance of guarding ourselves against division and offense.

When we humble ourselves before God and seek Him together, He builds unity and prepares us for all He has planned. I believe His purposes for CHS are far greater than anything we could imagine, and as we move forward, our hearts must be ready to receive them.

My prayer is that we would keep short accounts, extend grace quickly, and walk together in unity, trusting that the Lord is shaping something beautiful in and through our school.

Education Spotlight: The Principle Approach®

The Principle Approach® methodology employed at CHS places God’s Word at the foundation of all learning. In all our instruction, we present God as intimately and directly involved in the lives of individuals, in the history of nations, and in all aspects of life and learning. The Principle Approach® is rooted in seven key principles.

Principle Five: The Christian Form of Our Government

This statement by philosopher John Locke forms the basis of this principle: “As men, we have God as our King and are under the law of reason: as Christians, we have Jesus the Messiah for our King and are under the law revealed by him in the gospel”—The Reasonableness of Christianity, 1695

The first four principles of individuality, self-government, character, and conscience focused on the internal sphere: an individual’s heart, mind, and will. The Scriptures teach that the internal gives rise to the external. Jesus said, “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart” (Luke 6:45). When the people of a nation walk in righteousness by governing themselves, government power can be limited and structured to protect them and encourage the flourishing of civil liberty.

The Bible was the primary educational tool in the homes, churches, and schools of early America. Parents, pastors, and teachers labored to see “Christ formed” in children, believing that the Savior’s power within would restrain humanity’s propensity toward evil. John Adams, our second president, echoed this sentiment when he said, “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion…our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

God’s purpose for civil government is the dispensing of justice and the protection of the individual and his property. America’s Founders framed a Christian Constitutional Federal Republic drawing from these ideas. In fact, the Bible was considered the colonists’ “political textbook,” as it was the most-cited text in founding-era writings.

When applied in the CHS classroom, teachers aim to shape the nation’s future citizens by helping students cultivate Christian self-government and character and possess a clean conscience. The goal is a student who is responsible and accountable to the internal demands of God’s law, “doing the will of God from the heart” (Ephesians 6:6), not one who merely responds to avoid punishment or unpleasant consequences. Students are taught to “think governmentally” by asking themselves, “Who or what is controlling my thoughts, emotions, and actions? Am I making choices to honor God and obey His Word, or am I allowing others’ opinions or external pressures to influence my responses? Do my actions require a stern government or one that is light?”

The expansion or erosion of liberty in America reflects the character of her people. At CHS, as we teach the Word of God, we seek to see each child experience the freedom that salvation brings. When liberty in Christ takes deep root in a student’s heart, it bears fruit far beyond the individual by shaping families, communities, and ultimately the nation these students will one day lead.

Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people. (Proverbs 14:34, NLT)

Verse of the Month

This month’s memory verse is a big one. It’s the beatitudes from Matthew 5. Can you fill in the blank?

Matthew 5:3-12 (NIV)

“Blessed are the ____ in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of ____.
4 Blessed are those who ____,
for they will be ____.
5 Blessed are the ____,
for they will ____ the earth.
6 Blessed are those who ____ and ____ for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the ____,
for they will be shown ____.
8 Blessed are the ____ in heart,
for they will ____ God.
9 Blessed are the ____,
for they will be called ____ of God.
10 Blessed are those who are ____ because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people ____ you, ____ you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.         12 ____ and be ____, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
