From the Desk of Principal Wigent
Dearest CHS Patriots:
As we look forward to spring break, I am reminded of the importance of rest in our lives.
So often we are overwhelmed with assignments, sports, and activities, and in the rush to keep up, we can find ourselves running out of strength and joy just trying to reach the finish line.
I was recently encouraged by a friend to take time to rest, not just to recover, but to truly pause.
When we rest we actually move forward with greater clarity. Operating from a place of rest allows us to return with fresh vision and a healthier perspective on our responsibilities.
As we head into spring break, my hope is that we would embrace rest as something intentional and life-giving, trusting that it equips us to serve, learn, and lead more effectively in the days ahead.

Education Spotlight: The Principle Approach®
The Principle Approach® methodology employed at CHS places God’s Word at the foundation of all learning. In all our instruction, we present God as intimately and directly involved in the lives of individuals, in the history of nations, and in all aspects of life and learning. The Principle Approach® is rooted in seven key principles.
Principle Six: How the Seed of Local Self-Government is Planted
Principle Six: How the Seed of Local Self-Government is Planted
The principle of local self-government, often referred to as “planting the seed of self-government,” holds that civil liberty in a nation is best protected when decision-making authority is exercised at the level closest to those affected. This principle operates through the important internal-to-external process: the seed is first planted in the individual’s heart through God’s Word, eventually manifesting externally as self-government within local communities.
Historically, the American colonists practiced this principle of local self-governance in New England town hall meetings and through the Committees of Correspondence. These committees served as networks for education and communication. Each colony expressed its distinctive ideas and understanding of constitutional principles, thereby educating one another rather than merely reacting to the latest acts of tyranny. The colonies continued practicing local self-government while unifying for righteous ends.
At Christian Heritage School, we apply the principle of local self-government by treating the classroom as a local community. Teachers aim to demonstrate the direct relationship between internal Christian self-government and the degree of external liberty enjoyed in the classroom. When students demonstrate their ability to govern themselves in alignment with classroom constitutions (written, established rules) and God’s Word, teachers can grant them maximum freedom. The fruit of this principle can be seen in the lives of responsible citizens who rely on the power within them through the Word of God rather than the strong arm of the state in making decisions for themselves, their families, and their local community.
So, the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said, ‘…select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task…The statement found approval with the whole congregation, and so they chose…’. (Acts 6:2-5)

Teachers for the Nations

Classes start July 13th! Applications are open!
We are really excited about TFN relaunching this year. After months of planning and conversations, we finally published the new webpage and application for the 5 month TFN program.
If you know anyone interested in becoming an educator who desires a Biblical foundation for their teaching, this program is designed for them. Visit the page. Learn about TFN. Share it with someone.
7/8 Grade Field Trip was a HIT!

Many thanks to all the teachers who took the students to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science last month. What a great field trip!
Missions in the Andes

If you missed it, we hosted an evening of missions education learning about a mission hospital serving Peruvians in the Andes Mountains. Dr. Klaus Dieter John shared incredible stories and vision with us.
It was also a joy to share time with Silvia and Juan from the Daniel School from Arequipa, Peru. Gabriella their daughter also spent extended time with us this past month. We are so grateful for their families’ leadership in Peru and using the Principle Approach® method of education to disciple their nation.
CHS Science Fair

Make plans to attend The CHS Science Fair — Thursday March 26.
A local Tyler EMS ambulance will have a display of the emergency vehicle and CPR demonstrations. The Blood Bank Bus has been invited and we will tour the bus in the morning, and it’s going to be open for blood donation throughout the day!
