Class of 2024
Below are excerpts from the speeches the graduates shared at their commencement ceremony.
Rachel Amaya
“Being in a school that teaches the Principal Approach has shaped me to think and view things differently…In science class, I have learned that God created everything with a purpose. The tiniest cell in my body is letting me stand here to give this speech. In literature, I learned that God gave us the creativity to write books for enjoyment and knowledge. In debate and public speech, I learned that God gave us freedom of expression. In American government and economics, I learned that God gave us discernment to make wise choices. Lastly, in Bible class, I learned that God, the all-powerful, loves me so much and calls me His daughter.”
Mateus Ferreira
“CHS taught me to see God in every subject, and over time, I began to see why He sent me here. Looking back, I could have been sent to a school that did not single out students to make them feel loved, a place where students are just numbers and where teachers don’t pray for students and students don’t pray for teachers. I’m glad I went to a school where we were taught to be open in our faith and to never be ashamed of what God has done for us.”
Savana Greb
“One of the things I have learned both in the classroom and out from my years at CHS is that by looking back in history we can gain hope for the future because we can see how God is working. As I move on through my next steps in life, I will be able to abide in the truth that God knows what is best for me and his ways are higher than mine because my history shows that God is faithful and good.”
Neriah Hernandez
“Upon recollection, what stands out to me the most is the level of intimacy and intentionality present in the relationships between students and faculty. It is a reflection of the message of Jesus Christ concerning the love of God and love for one’s neighbor. Our school prides itself on fostering a familial dynamic and a sense of unity amongst attendees by encouraging their personal growth.”
John Mack Weaver
“The principles taught here have shaped not only my academic knowledge but also my Christian character and values. The emphasis on loving others and making all feel welcome here, no matter what age, has left a lasting impression on me. This sense of community and camaraderie fostered within the campus, as a united body of Christ, has provided me with support and has encouraged me to love the Lord and strive for excellence in all areas of my life, wherever I may go.”
Meghan Willson
“This past year has been incredible. I have learned and grown so much in my relationship with Jesus. I have gained much knowledge throughout my time at CHS, but most importantly, I learned to be intentional with my relationships, whether it be with Jesus, my family, or friends. Words cannot explain how indebted I am to those who have taught and encouraged me to stand firm in what I believe in and to be strong in the Lord.”
